A man has appeared in court accused of carrying out a sexual assault on an American student in Edinburgh.
Appearing in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Gavin Lang, 23, from Dunfermline, was charged with assaulting the 22-year-old woman with intent to rape.
He made no plea or declaration, his case was continued and he was released on bail.
The incident happened in Barries Close, which leads to Parliament Square, on Monday.
