Deputy Trott said the States need to have a code on transparency
Guernsey States have nothing to fear from being more open and transparent, the chief minister has said.
Deputy Lyndon Trott does not believe the island should follow the UK and introduce a Freedom of Information Act, but he thinks changes are needed.
He said: "We do need some form of code, some form of process that is consistent across the States and we need to approach that with a very clear view.
"Those of us in the public sector have nothing to fear from transparency."
Deputy Trott added: "I would go as far as to say that the more people understand the challenges that are faced by government on a day-to-day basis, the more understanding and tolerant those people are likely to be to the government that serves them."
