Cambridgeshire children's hospice cited as role model

A children's hospice in Cambridgeshire that develops palliative care projects across East Anglia has been cited as a role model for others.

Health Secretary Andrew Lansley visited East Anglia Children's Hospices in Milton near Cambridge on Saturday.

He said £30m was now available to fund similar operations and Professor Sir Alan Craft has been asked to chair a panel to consider proposals.

Mr Lansley wanted to support the type of development he had seen at Milton.

He said: "It is working in collaboration with the NHS, other voluntary organisations and local authorities and I want to support this type of development.

"Every child that is seriously or terminally ill should be properly supported."
