90mph winds batter parts of the United Kingdom

Severe storms have hit parts of the UK, blowing over lorries and damaging buildings.

In Scotland winds of up to 100mph have battered the coast.

The gusts are so strong that trees have fallen onto roads and several bridges have had to be closed, because it is too dangerous to cross them.

People have been advised to not travel by train and Glasgow Airport has warned that cancellations are expected.

But Scotland isn't the only part of the UK that's been affected.

Flooding and a big drop in temperature are forecast in parts of Wales and north-west England.

The weather conditions have also meant some trains between London and Scotland had to start and terminate at Newcastle upon Tyne.

Part of the roof of the grandstand at horse racing's Epsom racecourse has been blown off because of the high winds too.
