This is the 138th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! Almost 3,000 dogs are competing to win at these prestigious awards and before they're paraded in front of judges they're treated to some serious pampering! Take a look behind the scenes at America's biggest dog show and second-longest held sporting event.
Overall 190 breeds and varieties have been entered into the competition taking place in New York, including three new breeds - the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno, the Chinook and the Rat Terrier. This Poodle is getting preened and pampered in preparation for the show.
Westminster showcases the best dogs from around world and they compete in categories including; sporting, non-sporting, heard, hound, working, terrier and toy. This dog's had its hair brushed and straightened and is entering the Teacup division.
This little Yorkshire Terrier has even had curlers put in her hair to make sure her curls are just right!
The Westminster Kennel club also gives an award to the best dog in the entire show. Dog handler Jaclyn Smith gives her Pembroke Welsh Corgi a blow dry to ensure his coat looks silky and smooth for the judges.
The winner of the 'Best In Show' competition and its owner receive a trophy and go on a tour. This Poodle has had a trim in the benching area while waiting to be for judged.
The dog handlers takes the competition very seriously and come equipped with a selection of collars, leads and grooming tools.
This year's awards are the biggest since 1990. These Maltese's are groomed one last time before their competition begins.
All the competition has led to to this Bulldog needing to cool off with a fan - he just can't take the heat!
Dogs have been entered the competition from 50 U.S. states as well as countries all over the world including: Jordan, Finland, Slovenia, Japan and Thailand. This Yorkshire terrier is prepped with red bow, mini rollers and special doggy hair gel.
Saber, a Havanese, is taking the time to relax before his competition and enjoying his shampoo and doggy bath.
All the pampering and parading is just too much for this Bulldog - he is absolutely pooped!
