Scottish independence vote - six months to go

On 18th September the people of Scotland will be asked to vote in a referendum on whether it should remain part of the UK or become an independent country.

A referendum asks you to vote yes or no to a proposal.

The people of Scotland will be asked the simple question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?"

It would be a huge moment for the country, and there are strong arguments on either side.
