World Press Photo Contest 2020: Check out some of this year's winning photos

This powerful picture, which is called Straight Voice, is the overall winner for this year’s World Press Photo Contest. It shows a young man reciting poetry at a protest in Sudan, which is in north-east Africa. The people around him are using their phones to provide light as he speaks.
Pangolins are mammals with scaly skin that live in parts of Asia and Africa. They can reach up to a metre in length! Pangolins are an endangered species and are mainly hunted for their scales. This one was snapped in the city of Harare, in Zimbabwe, after being rescued from traffickers.
Lots of anti-government protests took place in Hong Kong last year. In this picture, a group of school students were photographed on their way to school after participating in a human-chain rally. Many people chose to wear masks during the protests to hide their identities and to also protect themselves from tear gas used by the police.
Check out this curious pair! A polar bear mother and her cub were spotted getting close to some equipment placed in the snow by scientists from Polarstern, a ship which is part of a scientific expedition looking at the impact of climate change on the Arctic.
This amazing photo is of professional dancer Musa Motha. Musa, who is from South Africa, is an amputee, but this hasn’t stopped him from following his dreams. He uses his crutches to execute his moves and performs with the Vuyani Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company in Johannesburg.
How adorable are these orangutans! The apes in this image, which was taken in Indonesia, are orphans. The women pictured act as mother-substitutes and one of their jobs is to help teach them how to climb trees with the aim of reintroducing them into the wild.
Take a look at this nail-biting scene! Basketball star Kawhi Leonard (squatting, centre), who used to play for the Toronto Raptors, took a shot just as the buzzer sounded to mark the end of his team’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Leonard’s ball hit the rim and bounced around four times before dropping through the net, leading his team to victory. Check out everyone's faces as they watch the ball go in.
This animal could be described as a real-life superhero! It’s called a wolverine (yes, that’s it official name) and they're mainly found in remote parts of Europe, Asia and North America. These creatures have large snowshoe-like paws and fur coats which repel water, equipping them for life in the snow. This one was photographed during a snowstorm in the US state of Alaska.
This is Virginie, and she's being watched by her mum. They live in Benin, west Africa, and has six siblings. Virginie's mum encourages all of them to practise their football - and it makes for a great photo.
These men are part of a rugby club in Japan. Taking part in the sport not only helps them to keep active, but it also gives them a chance to socialise with others. Ryuichi Nagayama (centre) was 86-years-old when this picture was taken last year, making him Fuwaku Rugby Club's oldest active player!
