Kriss Akabusi has praised the Isle of Man's sports facilities following a visit to the island ahead of the forthcoming Commonwealth Youth Games.

The former British 400m hurdler said the facilities at the National Sports Centre in Douglas were very impressive.

"The facilities at the NSC are spot-on and at a level I saw across Europe when I was training," he said.

The Commonwealth Youth Games will take place on the Isle of Man from 7-13 September.

During his visit Akabusi, who won medals at World, European and Commonwealth level, spent time with Manx children to pass on advice and tutorship in a variety of track and field events.

"It was great to meet all of the children, they were all very enthusiastic about sports and there were signs of great potential," he added.
